Denatured Alcohol
Ethyl alcohol to which another substance has been added to make it unfit for human consumption, and also to prevent recovery of the alcohol from the mixture. The denaturants do not prevent use of the alcohol in the industry and the arts. Many chemicals have been used as denaturants including acetone, camphor, chloroform, ethyl acetate, gasoline, iodine, kerosene, phenol, pine oil, soaps, and wood alcohol. Viscosity: Thin Pump Notes: Cast iron construction is usually satisfactory. Elastomers used must be compatible with the denaturant. |
